Build a trading routine you can actually keep
A routine only works if you follow it on your worst day. Here is a small one you can start tomorrow.
Start smaller than you think
Most routines fail because they are too big. Pick three things you will do every trading day, and make each one take under five minutes.
A simple three-part routine
- Before the session: write your plan for the day. Which setups you will take, and the most you are willing to lose.
- During the session: take only trades that match the plan. If you break a rule, note it instead of arguing with yourself.
- After the session: record every trade and one line on how you felt.
You do not need a perfect day. You need a day you can learn from.
Make it stick
Attach the routine to something you already do, like your morning coffee. Keep a streak of days you completed all three parts, not days you made money. Once a week, spend ten minutes reading your notes and pick one thing to change.
A journal makes this easy, because your plan, trades and notes sit next to each other. That is what TradlyMemo is for.
Put it into practice
Plan your next challenge, record each day and watch the numbers.
